The Cheapest Way to Learn Software Engineering Is Still Free
Before you take out a loan for a massive bootcamp, look at the documentation. Open-source communities are the greatest free universities ever built.

There is a moment almost every engineering student reaches when they decide they want to be a full-stack developer.
You realize your college syllabus isn't enough. You start searching for "how to learn web development." And immediately, you are targeted by an aggressive, highly optimized marketing machine.
Suddenly, your feed is full of advertisements for "Guaranteed Placement Bootcamps," "Zero to Mastery Masterclasses," and "Premium Architect Cohorts" that cost upwards of ₹1,00,000.
The marketing plays on your insecurity. It tells you that if you don't buy this specific course, you will be left behind.
It's a very convincing lie.
01 - The Myth of Proprietary Knowledge
Here is the most important secret the bootcamp industry doesn't want you to know:
There is no secret knowledge in software engineering.
A premium bootcamp does not have a secret version of React. They do not have a private, faster version of PostgreSQL. They are teaching you the exact same Next.js routing that is available for free in the official documentation.
What they are actually selling you is not knowledge. They are selling structure, accountability, and the illusion of a guarantee.
If you can generate your own structure and discipline, you can bypass the tollbooth entirely.
